Scott and Don Whipple joined the ownership team in 2005 and are both very excited to bring their years of camp experience to Camp Unique. Both Scott and Don will be overseeing the year round administration of Camp Unique and are committed to growing Camp Unique's outstanding reputation and programs.

Scott started in the camping industry in 1993. He directs the marketing, new program development, and the overall administration of several camps. Scott is a graduate of Baylor University and has served as the Western Association of Independent Camps Vice-President of the Northern California Section. Additionally, he is an American Camping Association accredited Camp Director.

Don began working for Mountain Camp in 1993 and is very excited to be working with Camp Unique. From 1999 to 2003 Don left Mountain Camp to direct Bruin Woods, the UCLA Alumni Family Camp, on Lake Arrowhead and later, the Coronado Academy in Costa Rica. Don is a proud graduate of UCLA and is currently serving as the Northern California Vice President of the Western Association of Independent Camps. Don has been an Active member of the America Camping Association for more than 14 years and loves being a part of the Camp Unique family!

We are very excited to introduce the newest member of the Camp Unique leadership team Lynn Pedroza. Lynn has spent most of her adult life working at Cottontail Ranch Camp. She began as a counselor in 1984 while attending UCLA. After graduating with a degree in Psychology, she continued her education as a graduate student studying Counseling Psychology at Loyola Marymount University. Over the years, she held many positions at Cottontail and in 1988 she became the year round Camp Director and held that held that role for the next 19 years. Lynn is active in the camping community and has held board positions with both the Western Association of Independent Camps (WAIC) and the Southern California section of the American Camping Association (ACA). With her many years of experience and her hands on knowledge as a parent of two children, she is committed to bringing children of the best possible camp experiences. Lynn, who is better known to the campers as "Chuckles", is excited to bring the Cottontail traditions, staff, and camp spirit to Camp Unique.

Rowan Driscoll is looking forward to his second year as a member of Camp Unique. As a career educator, Rowan has served as a science teacher, and coach during the past seven school years in addition to his work at Mountain Camp and now Camp Unique! Rowan grew up on a small family farm in Corinth, Vermont. Life on the farm somehow eventually led to Davidson College (NC), where Rowan earned a B.S. in Biology during his undergraduate work. It is no coincidence that as former Wildcat footballer, he joins the ranks of Camp Unique staff that have participated in college or club athletics. Rowan is already looking forward to the warm sunny days at camp and the smiling faces of the Camp Unique family.

Matt & Kristine Shargel have been a part of the Camp Unique family for the past 8 years. In 2006, Matt and Kristine transitioned from their roles as Camp Directors to that of Camp Advisors. Both were outstanding athletes in college, with Kristine earning All-American honors in lacrosse. They are both educators with extensive experience working with young people. Prior to heading our program, they headed the outdoor education program for Mountain Camp for several summers.
